Apparatus for producing machined timber from round timber logs comprises a feed device for receiving a log and feeding it longitudinally through at least one machining device whereby the middle region of the log is machined into squared timber. The wood sections lying outside the squared timber, on two mutually opposite sides of the round timber log, are separated into boards or planks during the feed movement of the log in its longitudinal direction, in a plurality of successive cutting operations. The machining device has a plurality of cutters staggered one behind the other, which cutters are combined into groups arranged in a frame which can be driven with an oscillating movement. A presser strip is associated with each cutter, and before each presser strip in the machining direction there is arranged a guide strip which contacts the outer surface of the log being machined.

The device includes a longitudinal log feeding mechanism, made in the form of a chain conveyor on which the log 2 is transported. In the process, the log 2 is pressed against the chain conveyor by means of clamping devices 3 and centered about the longitudinal axis of the device by drive centering mechanisms 4. The cutting mechanism 5 consists from the vibration frame 6, supported by two electrically driven gel 7 eccentric shafts 8, connected by a chain drive 97 kb the latter inform the frame to vibrate. In vibrating frame with the help of holders 10, KNIVES 11 are installed, arranged in steps, in the course of feeding the log. The knives 11 are adjusted by means of movable terminal boards 12. On the holders 10 there are push 13 and guides 14 slats. Guides N, whose leading edge is bevelled, are designed to eliminate one-sided axial deflection of the log in the area of the pressure bars 13. Slats 13 and 1 are made of wear-resistant material, for example, metal-ceramic or bronze, obtained by powder metallurgy.
A conveyor 15 is installed at the back of the device for further advancement, along the treated wood workshop, along the sides of the device — conveyors 16 for removing the obtained boards 17. The device works as follows.
The log to be processed,. the longitudinal feed mechanism 1 is fed to the cutting mechanism 5, while it is pressed from above by the clamping device 3 and centered with the help of the drive centering mechanisms 4. The knives 11, which oscillate and are set in steps, are successively separated from the log board 17, which are fed to Transporter 16 tap of finished boards.
Due to the vibrations of the knives, and consequently, the pressure and guide bars, the drive of the longitudinal feed mechanism is unloaded and, in addition, scratches, cracks and splittings are prevented, which contributes to smoothing and partial compaction of wood before entering the knife not only in the longitudinal direction, but also in the cross, .a it leads to an increase in the quality of commercial wood produced.
After the release of the received bar
from the cutting mechanism, it enters the conveyor 15, while it is also pressed against the chain conveyor by the device 3 and is centered by the mechanism.
Guides can be inserted into the holder with dovetail grooves, or directly attached to the holder by means of a screw connection, soldering
or glue. In the same way, pressure plates can be attached to the holder.
Before processing, round timber must be treated by water washing, scalding or passing over. In addition, chemical ingredients are added depending on the type of wood.
In this way, by inserting a guide rail, splitting and scratching on the surface of the produced industrial wood is prevented, even in the event of adverse working conditions. Guide rails
carry out accurate passage of the wood of the trunk through the device and therefore should be wide, and the pressure bars should ensure that the wood is pre-pressed as evenly as possible and therefore must be made narrow.
